Hi! My name is Robin Gough; I am a British freelance translator, who has been based in Brazil since 2014.
I translate Portuguese to English, revise English text, create subtitles and offer coaching to Brazilian translators. My mission is to ensure that you can communicate clearly, naturally and credibly in English and avoid results that look translated.
When Brazilians write in English, it is often the case that it may be grammatically correct, but it doesn't sound very authentic. This is where I come in: as a native English speaker, I can ensure that the tone, vocabulary and style used in your text feels normal, whether its an academic paper, a corporate website or video subtitles.
I was born in the United Kingdom, a native English speaker with a good education
I am comfortable with the Portuguese language and Brazilian culture (I have been married to a Brazilian for 23 years)

I have worked with clients in Brazil and abroad
I also offer coaching to Brazilian translators who want to improve their written English
As well as translating, I also like to coach and mentor fellow translators. I believe that the best translation is not just about the words used; you have to consider intention, context, and culture. That's why whatever I deliver must respect the purpose of the text and reflect the utmost attention to detail.
